USER IN FOCUS – CUC 2007

Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNet organized the 9th CARNet Users Conference CUC 2007 that took place from 19th to 21st November 2007 at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Rijeka. The conference was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, and with the support of the City of Rijeka.

The Conference programme, entitled User in Focus, offered four tutorials, ten workshops, seven presentations, one round table and eighty-two papers. Interesting lectures before more than 420 accredited participants were given by three keynote speakers – Ivan Krstić, Director of Security Architecture One Laptop per Child (OLPC), Heather Boyles from the US Internet 2 network and Greg Butler from Microsoft Educations Solutions Group, Great Britain.

For the eighth successive year, the CARNet Users Conference was accompanied by Webfestival, a contest providing authors who publish contents on the Web with the chance to present and compare their work. The theme of this year's contest was wiki, an easy to use collaborative Web editing tool.
