CARNet Users Conference - CUC was designed to help everybody who wishes to step into the world of new information technologies and extend the use of the Internet. CUC is meant to become the meeting place for CARNet users providing opportunity to share experiences and ideas. This year CARNet Users Conference - CUC 2000 focused on the Internet, particularly the Web as a source of information.

CUC 2000 gathered over 200 participants from various fields of human activity. Around 40 speakers from Croatia and abroad presented their ideas, work and experience.

Apart from lectures, panels, tutorials and workshops CUC 2000 had two special events: The Web Festival and The Best Presentation Contest, and a variety of social events. All these activities attributed to the success and attractiveness of the Conference.

We decided to publish the Conference Proceedings on CD-ROM, because it is a suitable medium which will best present the ingenuity of speakers in the use of multimedia in their papers. All lectures and other material from the Conference can be found on that CD-ROM. Our special gratitude goes to the Desire Project. Thanks to their permission we were able to put the DESIRE Information Gateways Handbook on our CD-ROM.
