Zlatan Soldo, Technical School of Surveying, Zagreb

During last academic year the Technical School of Surveying (Geodetska tehnička škola) was involved in the project This is Our Time 1998. It is a project under UNESCO sponsorship with the purpose of enabling young people throughout the world to communicate on a given subject. The subject last year was the Declaration on Human Rights. 152 schools from 51 countries took part.

Preparations took place during the academic year. On the 50^th anniversary of the Declaration on Thursday, 10 December 1998 there was a final 24-hour consorting and a quiz through Internet. Our school’s team stayed in their computer classroom the whole 24 hours from 01:00 (00 GMT) on Thursday, 10 December to 01:00 (00 GMT) on Friday, 11December. We won the third place in the quiz Unite the Nations. Details on the project can be found on the following URL address:

We would like to show the opportunities which taking part in such an international project offers as well as forms of our organisation of particular activities. We would also like to motivate other schools to join similar activities.
