Ivan Trojan was born on 25 March 1979 in Osijek. During his high school education at the Science and Mathematics Gymnasium in Osijek, he completed all five levels of the Speech School of the Phonetics Department of the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. He enrolled in the study of Croatian language and literature at the Faculty of Education in Osijek in the academic year 1997/98. and from the second year of his studies he was the editor-in-chief of the student literary magazine “Aleph” and the head of the publishing department at Matica Hrvatska in Osijek. He graduated with honors in 2002. with the theme Game and Image in the Poetry of Bora Pavlović.
Immediately after receiving his diploma, he worked as an external associate on the courses of Stylistics and New Croatian Literature at the Faculty of Education in Osijek until his military service in 2003. years. In 2012 he was elected to the scientific-teaching position of assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek. He became a senior research associate in 2015. in 2010, having obtained a scientific title after three years as a scientific associate, since he submitted more than twice the points to the parent committee for the selection that requires a regular procedure. In 2017 he was elected to the scientific-teaching title of associate professor, and in January 2023 to full professor. In the end of 2019 he founded the student Chamber Theater of the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek. From 1. June 2021 he is the dean of the Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek.
Winner of awards for his scientific and professional work: Performance Charter of Julij Benešić in 2010. 2016, Charter of the Vukovar-Srijem County for outstanding achievements in the field of science and culture in 2016. year and the Charter of Success of Josip and Ivan Kozarac for Literary Science in 2018. year.
