Many academic institutions and industries
around the globe have used one form or other of delivering distance
learning courses to suite their needs, resources, and objectives.
Delivery techniques covers a wide variety of options varied from
using web-based instruction, web casting, audio/video conferencing,
and interactive TV instruction. One method of successful delivery
in one setting does not necessarily apply to all other academic
units and sites. This process of achieving a successful and affordable
distance learning program depends to a large extent on careful
examination and assessment of Target Audience, Available Technology,
Teacher Training/Development, and Pilot Studies. This session
will demonstrate a wide range of examples and applications of
what have been used in Western Europe, Canada and the US as they
apply to Distance Learning Instruction and Evaluation. Pros and
cons of each approach will be addresses and analyzed. Following,
there will be an active dialog among the audience to discuss what
works and what might not work for Croatia and similar countries
in the region. Recommendations based on an overall future strategy
will be addressed.
