Mr. Miroslav
Milinović, Program Committee Chair CUC'99: Come, have fun, dream and
act after this conference!
How was the idea
about CARNet Users Conference born?
The idea about CUC is almost as old as CARNet. All distinguished academic
research networks in Europe have similar events so it was a logical
step for CARNet too. The purpose of our conference is to give our users
an opportunity to be active and present their results, exchange ideas,
express problems and concerns.
Why was "Internet
learning" chosen as the topic of this conference?
Because it is an evergreen. It is very actual, especially the topics
"Training the Trainers" and "Distance Learning". We think that the topic
is very provocative because it suggests the shift from learning about
the Internet towards efficient use of the Internet as a learning tool.
How did you get
in contact with keynote speakers - Jill Foster and George Munroe?
I first met them both in 1996, as lecturers at the ISOC Workshop, which
I was attending. Recently I had an opportunity to be a member of the
evaluation panel for Mr. Munroe's project "ETINU". So we had a chance
to get to know each other. We chose them because their charisma and
results in the Internet learning field.
What are the plans
for the next CARNet Users Conferences?
Our wish is to attract even more participants from abroad, improve it
and chose topics according to the wishes and needs of our users. We
would not like CUC to become technical conference but rather to be user
oriented and tailored according to the results, ideas and needs of our
users. Visit the closing ceremony and find out our next year's topic.
Do you have any
messages for the participants of this conference?
Come, have fun, dream and act after this conference!
