Virtual
Medical School (VMS) is distance education project from the
Split University Medical School and Mostar University Medical
School. Its main objective is to develop constantly updated
medical educational resource that will contain elements of the
medical curriculum and that will be available over Internet.
The first step in the project development was to establish a
group of educators who will participate in it. They developed
VMS curriculum that contains loosely integrated lectures, case
reports and digital library information. In the future the project
will be expanded to provide information for continuous medical
education (CME) and patient education. The focus is on integration
into students and clinicians' daily work and incorporating consumer
health information into patients' life stiles. This approach
is especially important for the poorly equipped schools and
hospitals in developing countries and countries devastated by
war like Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. This paper describes
