International Pediatric Chat (IPC) is not for profit organization of pediatric professionals who use live Internet typing (chat), voice chat, and someday video conferencing as a means of communicating with one another. It was started May 16th, 1996 by Dr. Julius Edlavitch of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Its purpose is to provide pediatric professionals a means of communicating live with each other. This communication may be for socialization, education, sharing difficult cases, or for organizational conferencing. Its advantages are that it is live and interactive almost like you were right there next to the other professionals in a meeting room. Because it is live and real time, it is unique and different from journals, list serves, news servers, and e-mail. It is different from an International meeting too because members can meet anytime they want and do not have to travel thousands of miles at considerable expense. It is totally unique and there is nothing like it anywhere on the Internet.
