Zlatko Zmijareviæ is a research assistant on the Power Systems
department of the Faculty of electrical engineering and computing
in Zagreb. He is assigned to the project of the Croatian Ministry
of Science and Technology named Planning and Control of Medium
Developed Power Systems. As a postgraduate student he expects
to gain a doctorate in the field of electric power engineering
within 3 years. Although his primary areas of professional interests
are planning and management of electric distribution networks
based on artificial intelligence and heuristic algorithms, he
achieved substantial results in power engineering and education
using Information technologies. He is involved in several projects
that utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Within the
joint project WebGIS of the Faculty of electrical engineering
and computing and CARNet he investigated the possibilities of
integrating GIS and the World Wide Web. In education, apart
from usual activities on the Faculty, he is actively involved
in implementing Internet technologies and computers in general
as tools for graduate and post-graduate power engineering students.
