Dr. Ivan Slapnièar


 
 
         

Dr. Slapnièar obtained B. S. and M. S. degrees in Mathematics at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and graduated at the Fernuniversität Hagen, Germany, in 1992.
He is Associate Professor of Mathematics at the University of Split, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture.
He is also the leader of the CARNet Pilot Project "Mathematics 1" and collaborator on the project ``Numerical Methods of Linear Algebra'' of the Croatian Ministry of Science and Technology.
Dr. Slapnièar was awarded the ``Preis zur Förderung junger Wissenschaftler der Fernuniversität Hagen'' in 1992, and the ``Prize of the Croatian Mathematical Society to the Young Scientist for Outstanding Scientifical Contribution in Mathematics'' in 1996.
He is one of the organizers of three Workshops on Accurate Solution of Eigenvalue Problems which were held at the University of Split, 1996, The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, 1998, and Fernuniversität Hagen, July 2000. He is also a member of the Organizing Comitte of the Conference on Applied Mathematics and Computation, Dubrovnik, September 1999. Dr. Slapnièar is a member of the Croatian Mathematical Society and the president of the Division in Split.
