The traditional task of libraries - to facilitate access to information - is still valid in the Internet world. Since technical progress has changed how libraries do their work, many of them are planning and developing Web sites in order to fullfil their functions. This paper examines the process involved in creating a library-related WWW site. A general overview of the steps that led to the redesigning of the National- and University Library Site is given; issues related to content, design, organisation and future development are outlined. Since the Internet provides access to a vast array of mostly unfiltered information, questions of how libraries can implement value-added services by selecting and evaluating remote Web resources and link them to the own Site are reflected.
