Damir Mrkonjić is a CARNet coordinator and system engineer at the Institute for Adriatic Crops and Karst Reclamation in Split.

He has been involved in computer communications since 1990. Since 1992 he has been involved in establishing CARNet network in Dalmatia (first as a University Computing Centre-Srce employee (1994 – 1996), and later as a CARNet employee till 2002). In academic year 1994/95 he has started organizing and performing IT courses for Srce and CARNet in Split, where he still works actively as a lecturer. He has been creating Websites since 1995 (in 1995 he created first Website of the town Split). He has participated in the organization of several national and international meetings and conferences. His work today is focused on UNIX servers maintenance, Web design, computer networks maintenance and computer courses lecturing. He has been an active member of the CARNet Users Presidential Board since 2003 and has been its President since 2005.
