Webfestival rules
The Webfestival 2005 is a competition for the best Web
sites among the institutions of higher education of Republic of Croatia,
divided into two categories:
- the Web site of an institution of higher education,
- the Web site of an organizational unit within an institution of
higher education.
The evaluation process is carried out by the Webfestival
Jury. At the same time the general public also evaluates the best achievements
for the Users' choice award in both categories by regular online voting.
Criteria for the Participation in the Contest
General conditions for the application of the Web site
are the following:
- only the Web site of an institution or an organizational unit within
an institution of higher education may be entered for the competition,
- the Web site may be entered for the competition only by a natural
person, a representative of an institution or an organizational unit
within an institution of higher education, i.e. by the member of the
scientific and teaching personnel or an employee of an institution
or an organizational unit, or a student.
If the Web site does not fulfill the mentioned conditions,
the Jury has the right to disqualify the Web site from further competition.
The Jury will tend to solve all the problematic situations in compliance
with the objectives of the Webfestival Organization.
Although they can take part in the Festival, the prizes
and awards cannot be granted to Web sites entered by:
- members of the Webfestival Jury,
- Program Committee or Organizing Committee of the CUC 2005 Conference
or Organizing Committee of the Webfestival 2005,
- employees in the managing positions or persons sharing ownership
rights in companies sponsoring the Conference, and
- family members of any of the groups mentioned above.
Evaluation
The evaluation process is carried out by the Webfestival
Jury:

Criteria for the Selection of the Winner
Webfestival Jury evaluates selected Web sites according
to the criteria listed in the Table 1.

The Explanation of the Criteria:
1. Content
In order to create a high quality content it is important
that it consists of following parameters:
- educational materials,
- information on institution activities,
- information on life at the institution or at the organizational
unit,
- references,
- information on the Web site dedicated to the students.
Explanation of the evaluation factor
Since the content determines the quality of the Web site, this criterion
has the evaluation factor 3.
2. Usability
While creating the Web site it is important to define its
users and subsequently customize it accordingly to users’ needs and preferences.
Important parameters in the evaluation of this criterion are:
- Navigation,
- Language and Style,
- Technical solution,
- Visual solutions,
- Web site intuitiveness.
Explanation of the evaluation factor
Usability of the Web site determines to which extent a Web site will be
used and to which extent it will be helpful to those who use it. Therefore
this criterion has the evaluation factor 3.
3. Interactivity and Multimedia
It is very important that interactivity and multimedia
are well adjusted to the Web site of which they make a compatible unit.
Explanation of the evaluation factor
Good use of multimedia elements and interactivity enhance the overall
experience of the Web site. Therefore this criterion has the evaluation
factor 2.
4. General impression
Efficient combination of the three previously mentioned
criterions together creates the general image of the Web site and thus
projects the general impression to its users.

The general impression is a criterion that produces overall credibility
of the certain Web site. Therefore this criterion has the evaluation factor
2.
