• Syntax analysis

Full-text search:

- string-matching searches (e.g. regular expressions)

- structure-matching searches (e.g. tags, link names and link paths)

- use logic operators (AND, OR, NOT)

Advantage:

- fast (due to automated indexing)

Disadvantage:

- answers are often irrelevant, incomplete or very large

Solution:

- the use of knowledge representation language (KRL) in order to index
