12th CARNet Users Conference - New Challenges
During the period of economic recession we are faced with new challenges. In times of crisis numerous individuals and institutions from the academic and research community and primary and secondary education alike are focusing their efforts on innovations in order to accomplish the necessary breakthroughs, improve their work and overcome the negative consequences of external factors. In some cases technology was a means, while in others it was both the means and the goal of their development. By using, combining and upgrading the existing resources, new values were created.
There are numerous examples of innovations and breakthroughs accomplished by our community in the past twelve months. Some of them have already been awarded prestigious awards, some have managed to gather finances through various funds, while others are still trying to find their place under the sun as well as recognition. It is owing to them that we now have the phenomenon of digital cities, integrated campuses and libraries, while social networks have permeated all aspects of our reality.
Homemade projects and student ideas have found their way to the market starting from scratch and combining ideas, technologies and available resources, all topped with hard work. The breakthroughs in teaching and instruction, based on a combination of techniques and various platforms on which the content is published, have enhanced the way we learn. Despite the crisis, ICT is used and applied in new and innovative ways.
We have prepared the following topics:
- From Garage to Success
- Internet (Dis)Connecting People
- Social Networks and Education
- Internet Integration
- Network Construction
- Open Source Code
